Alberta RCMP took the opportunity after a police dog located a missing child recently, to highlight the skills of Police Dog members.

Five year old German Shepherd, Harp, the Cold Lake RCMP explains, uses his powerful sense of smell to locate the scent of people to track a person even in extreme weather and after a time delay of several hours.

A few weeks ago, Constable Jason Jaques and Harp were able to find a five year old boy who had been reported missing from his home. Harp located a track that led to a shed where the young boy was located. He was safe and reunited with his family. Harp lives with Constable Jaques and his family in Cold Lake and has another canine pal, which is a rescue dog named Raven.
