SaskPower says all residential customers impacted by the storm have had their service restored. Preliminary numbers show that 50,226 customers experienced a loss of service. During the storm, the company’s Outage Centre fielded over 16,500 calls. Around five o’clock Tuesday afternoon, SaskPower said some customers may experience minor planned outages in the coming hours as crews conduct repairs.
In the wake of extreme winds, there’s always a chance of downed lines or damaged infrastructure. Anyone who comes across any damaged power lines should stay back at least 10 metres and call SaskPower or 911 in an emergency.
The storm caused a busier than usual 24 hours for Saskatoon Police. The department says between 6am on Monday and 6am Tuesday, they responded to 51 accidents in the city.
