A fire in Pleasant Hill on Friday morning is believed to have been caused by children playing with a lighter

At 10:40 a.m. the Saskatoon Fire Department received a call of a fire in a home in the 2800 Block of 18th Street West.  First arriving fire crews reported flames coming through the roof of the home.  An aerial crew identified fire in the attic space.

The fire was brought under control at 11:05 a.m. with no injuries to firefighters or residents of the home. The fire scene was turned over to the Fire Investigator who determined the fire to be accidental due to children playing with a lighter. Damage is estimated to be $200,000.

The Saskatoon Fire Department is reminding the public to ensure that all open flame devices such as lighters, matches, bbq lighters and similar are kept in a safe place.
