The Canadian Press is reporting the City of Humboldt has announced plans to open a 25-million-dollar tribute centre to permanently commemorate the lives lost, on the eve of a fatal bus crash in 2018.
The building will feature a gallery honoring the victims of the crash, as well as an arena and a fitness and physiotherapy area. The city said construction will not begin for at least a couple of years. A semi-truck hit the bus transporting the Humboldt Broncos team on April 6, 2018, killing 16 people and injuring 13 others. The bus was on its way to Nipawin for an S-J-H-L playoff game.
