Identifying solutions for plastic pollution will be the main feature for a new Saskatchewan Environmental Society webinar.
Joanne Fedyk Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Waste reduction Council, will be presenting and says the webinar will look at where plastic pollution is now and what the options are going forward. She suggests we shouldn’t expect recycling will get us out of the plastics problem, adding it’s the simplest solution but probably won’t be the one that works.
Fedyk says other issues that will be discussed include the challenges of plastic bags, micro-plastics that can get into our bodies and the bodies of animals, and plastics that are ending up in landfills even with attempts to recycle them.
The webinar will be hosted by the Saskatoon Public Library and Fedyk says she’s hoping for a lot of questions during the Q & A session, because there is a lot to talk about. The webinar, is tonight (Tuesday) at 7 p.m., and is the fourth edition of the Saskatchewan Environmental Society’s Sustainability Speakers Series.
