Starting Tuesday, a SaskPower contractor will be onsite removing trees along Attridge Drive in Saskatoon. The work is scheduled to be complete April 15th. It is required to clear the path for the new Sutherland transmission line. SaskPower says removing the trees will ensure access and safety for the construction and long-term maintenance of the planned power line.

Residents, businesses, and pedestrian traffic in the area may experience some noise, dust and temporary, blocked access to walking paths.

Construction on the power line will begin in July when a contractor will build the structure foundations. A SaskPower crew will begin building the power line in November.

The company says when complete, the new power line will provide more backup power, and be better prepared to provide power to new customers.

SaskPower and the City of Saskatoon Parks department are working on a plan to restore vegetation after the new power line is built.
