The Saskatoon Police Service is warning the public about a rental scam that has recently been recurring throughout the city.

The police service says in most cases, the victim reaches out to the landlord who then asks for a deposit. After the money is sent, communication between the landlord and victim ends. This leaving the victim out of money along with no rental home.

The Saskatoon Police Service urges residents to beware of deals that are notably below market value and not to send money as a deposit until you’ve verified that the property is legitimately up for rent.

It’s often that fraudsters will request money urgently and will often have victims send multiple small transfers.
