Prince Albert City Council will be looking at whether there should be a residency policy which encourages all employees to live within the city’s municipal boundaries. It would be encouraged for any new employees and would be mandated for new employees accepting out-of-scope permanent positions.

Existing employees would be exempt, except if they were later promoted to a senior administrative position after the policy was enacted, if it comes to fruition. Mayor Greg Dionne wants employees to give serious consideration to living in Prince Albert, and not immediately looking to surrounding communities.

He says this policy would formalize a process to have City Council’s residency expectation communicated to prospective employees. This will be discussed at Monday’s Council meeting.
