New initiatives being brought forward by the Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan are looking to enable women entrepreneurs to scale their business and close the entrepreneurial gender gap.
WESK CEO Prabha Mitchell, says women entrepreneurs fuel economic growth in our province. She adds that in 2019 women lead businesses contributed $23.billion in GDP and created 191,000 jobs. Mitchell explains WESK will be advancing three initiatives to enable scale in Saskatchewan.
The first will be to launch a digital entrepreneurship hub for women entrepreneurs that will provide curated resources relevant for entrepreneurs. The second will allow women entrepreneurs to create a brand identity and self declare as an official Woman-Owned Saskatchewan Business. The third will be the release of a Saskatchewan Women Entrepreneurship Charter, which Mitchell says will build a pool of champions in support of women entrepreneurs in the province. This will provide guidance and examples as to how other organizations can support local women-owned businesses. Mitchell says WESK currently has 16 prominent and influential organizations signed on for the charter, in support of closing the entrepreneurial gender gap.
