Weather conditions were poor down south Monday and overnight. “Travel not recommended,” warnings started coming in, in the morning, and continued into the night. There were road closured in the Weyburn, Moose Jaw, Estevan, and Regina areas. At one point, RCMP were advising people not to travel in the south east area of the province because of road conditions. Strong winds and snow were reducing visibility and making roads icy and extremely slippery.
RCMP are advising drivers that overnight they received 24 calls for service regarding collisions due to weather. They received another 15 calls for assistance where vehicles were stuck in the road or in the ditch. Highways throughout the province are still extremely slippery and many highways are closed in the south east corner of the province. This morning RCMP are asking people not to travel, and if they must to check the highway hotline.
