Saskatoon Police say within 15 minutes of a vehicle being stolen with a 4 year old child inside, the vehicle was located and the child was safe.
Police were called around 2:15 Tuesday afternoon after the vehicle with the little girl in the backseat, was taken from the parking lot of a mall in the 100 block of Primrose Drive which is where Lawson Heights Mall is located.
Police immediately sent out an alert describing the vehicle and asking for the public’s help and the vehicle was found minutes later, a few blocks away in the 100 block of Cree Crescent.
July 14th, around 12:30 in the morning a vehicle was stolen on Madison Crescent with a sleeping 7 year old child inside. It was found a short distance down the street, abandoned and the child was safe. No suspect was found.
In June a 9 year old boy inside an SUV on 37th Street, managed to jump out of the moving vehicle unharmed, when he realized it was being stolen. The suspect took police on a chase out to the Osler area and back before it was stopped by a stud belt. Christopher Murray was charged in that case and the 51 year old was sentenced to 3 years in jail.
