SaskEnergy will be conducting a controlled natural gas flare in Saskatoon’s West Industrial area Wednesday, near the intersection of Avenue P and 17th St. The flare will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last for approximately an hour. SaskEnergy will be conducting maintenance work on the natural gas line system in the area for the remainder of the week.
During the flare, natural gas will be released from the gas line in a controlled burn. Flaring is required to remove the remaining gas from the line before work can begin.
Residents and drivers in the areas may see a six-foot flare being emitted from the flare stacks temporarily attached to the gas line at the location.
The area around the flare will be barricaded and supervised to ensure public safety. There will be no disruptions to natural gas service for SaskEnergy customers during this process.
