One new COVID-19 death was reported on Sunday—a person in their fifties from the North Central zone.

There were a combined 538 new COVID cases over the weekend—289 on Sunday and 249 on Saturday.

Regina accounted for more than one-third of new COVID cases on Sunday with 106. The numbers for the rest of the province are South East (41), Saskatoon (32), Central East (26), North West (21), South Central (15), North Central (12), Far North West (9), Central West (7), South West (6), North East (2) and Far North East (2). Ten new cases have residence information pending.

One hundred and eighty-nine (189) people are in hospital, including 45 in the intensive care unit. Regina has 30 patients in ICU and Saskatoon has 10.

There were 3,623 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Saturday.

Another 135 variants of concern (VOC) were identified by screening, with the updated total standing at 4,664. Regina accounts for 61 percent of the VOC total.

An additional 11,063 vaccines doses have been administered, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 345,126. Forty-nine (49) percent of residents over the age of 40 have received their first dose.

The Ministry of Health reported on Saturday that the April 26th Moderna vaccine shipment will be reduced by half to 18,800 doses. An update will be announced in the coming days as to what impact the reduction could have on booked appointments and the pharmacy vaccination pilot project.
