Biggar RCMP have charged a 20 year old man after a series of events on Sunday night that began when a call came in to the Detachment about a man pointing a gun, then taking off with a female youth in his vehicle.
The caller and the man and girl are known to each other.
Officers located the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 14 shortly after 7 and police say the man got out and became a hazard to drivers on the road, so traffic was blocked to ensure safety.
The 20 year old was arrested and transported to the Biggar hospital for minor self-inflicted injuries.
It’s alleged a firearm and ammunition were found in the vehicle.
Then, RCMP report that just before 9, the man escaped custody from the hospital.
Police allege the man stole a vehicle from a home that was known to him and headed East out of town.
Just after midnight, he was found near Landis, and was arrested.
Jordy Leschinski is facing 19 charges including escaping custody, pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, and vehicle theft.
Biggar RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
