The Wadena Volunteer Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire in that community at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday evening. Firefighters arrived to find that residents had put out the fire but the still smoking stove and vent were removed after the power was turned off.
The fire officials say residents had used water on a grease fire which caused the fire to flare causing fire and heat damage to the cupboards and stove as well as smoke damage through the home. No one was hurt in the fire and the Wadena Fire Department is stressing the need for fire extinguishers in the kitchen of your home.
