As of 6:30 this morning the fire in the 100 block of Avenue B south was not considered under control. Deputy Chief of Operations Mike Ralston says there may be traffic restrictions in the area.
He describes the fire which was called in at 1:40 a.m., “It was challenging, it was heavily involved right from the start, flames through the roof. We did have some roof collapse and wall collapse.”
Deputy Chief Ralston says the building that caught fire is between The Blok and Outtabounds and neither of those businesses are impacted with a drive way on one side of the building affected and a parking lot on the other side.
“Looks like there might be multiple businesses in there. Looks like it was renovated possible a couple times but yeah the street front has been a restaurant in the past, for sure.”
There was no one inside the building-on-fire and no injuries have been reported. The Fire Department brought in a backhoe to bring down the remaining walls and then they can get at the rest of the fire.
