Nature Sketch on The Great Trail is exactly what its title describes. It’s a series of artistic events along The Trans Canada Trail. There are 7 this weekend, and one of them is at Wanuskewin Heritage Park. It’s hosted by the Bateman Foundation and Trans Canada Trail, the world’s longest network of recreational multi-use trails. Jane O’Faherty with Trans Canada Trail, says Saturday’s event is for all ages and skill levels. An artist and naturalist will guide you through part of the trail for inspiration, with sketching tips along the way. Sketch pads and pencils will be supplied, so O’Faherty asks that everyone register ahead of time. You can click on the link with this story on cjwwradio.com. O’Faherty says Saskatoon is fortunate to have the Meewasin Trail which links to Wanuskewin. Twenty kilometres of the Meewasin Trail is designated as part of The Great Trail. The other communities taking part are Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Halifax, and Tuktoyaktuk. The Great Trail of Canada stretches for more than 24-thousand kilometres, and 80 per cent of Canadians are within 30 minutes of a section of the Trail. The Bateman Foundation was founded by artist and naturalist Robert Bateman, with the goal of helping people reconnect with nature so they will be inspired to protect it.
