The Saskatoon Fire Department Investigator and the Saskatoon Police ServiceĀ Investigator have concluded that the structure fire in the 100 Block of Avenue B South is suspicious. Fire damage to this property is estimated to be $900,000.
Firefighters started packing up tools and equipment around 10 a.m. this morning after getting called out to a business on fire at 1:40 a.m. in the 100 block of Avenue B South.
Deputy Chief of Operations Mike Ralston describes the fire as challenging and says it was heavily involved right from the start with flames shooting through the roof. The roof and some of the walls collapsed so a back hoe was brought in around 6:30 a.m. this morning to bring the rest of the structure down and fire crews finished putting the fire out.
Ralston says the business had, in the past, a restaurant occupying the street front. The building which caught fire was located between The Blok and Outtabounds and neither of those businesses were impacted by fire. There was no one inside the building-on-fire and no injuries have been reported.
