The Government of Saskatchewan says merchandise export numbers released by Statistics Canada Tuesday ranks this province first among the provinces, with a 26.1 per cent increase month-over-month for merchandise exports. The values compared were between February and March. In the first three months of 2021, Saskatchewan’s merchandise exports increased by 13.6 per cent compared to the same period last year and year-over-year numbers show a 14.1 per cent increase.

Saskatchewan’s metal and non-metallic mineral products led the country (+143.6%) and large gains (+190.6%) year-over-year were also tracked in forestry building and packaging materials (+77.9%), and energy products (+36.2%) as well as farm and intermediate food products (+19.2%). Export sales for March were up more than $3.1 billion year to date.
