Green energy, local roads and bridges, municipal equipment, protective services and recreation, culture, tourism, and sports infrastructure – these are some of the projects eligible for the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program.

Last year, $150-million in provincial funds were granted to help with these local efforts. Government Relations Minister Don McMorris says 760 municipalities have received funds through MEEP.

New projects granted funding as of the end of April include $2-million for a downtown festival site in Saskatoon, wastewater and stormwater improvements in Warman totalling over $1.5-million, and campground construction in Martensville totalling $750,000 in MEEP funding. The MEEP program is a part of the provincial government’s $7.5-billion, two-year capital plan to stimulate economic recovery from the impacts of the pandemic.
