Prince Albert’s Police Chief says Bernie Herman, the RCMP officer charged with first degree murder in the death of 26 year old Braden Herman on Tuesday night, indirectly provided the details that led officers to the victim and to his arrest. Chief Jonathan Bergen says he can’t provide any details at this point other than to say the two have the same last name, but aren’t related.
Braden Herman’s body was found in a wooded area north of Prince Albert near Little Red River Park early Tuesday evening. Bergen wants the public to know that although municipal police services have many connections with RCMP, that doesn’t means investigators won’t be thorough. The Justice Ministry has also appointed two independent observers who have complete access to the investigation. Bergen says they are both former municipal officers with no connection to the P.A. Police Service or the RCMP.
He expects more details in the investigation will be released next week.
