The Saskatoon Police Serious Assault Unit is investigating an incident that occurred Saturday night where a suspect reportedly struck the victim with an axe and shot him with a pellet gun a number of times. The victim was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Around eight o’clock, Patrol officers went to an apartment building in the 400 block of Avenue P South for a report of an aggravated assault. They found a man inside a suite suffering from serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Officers were told that two men, who are believed to be known to each other, got into an altercation inside the suite. The investigation is ongoing. Two people are facing drug trafficking related charges after an evade police incident. Around 2:30 on Sunday morning patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a red SUV at Circle Drive and Airport Drive however when police approached the stopped vehicle, it sped away. Police say when the vehicle swerved to avoid a stud belt, it almost struck an officer. A second tire deflation device was deployed successfully and the SUV stopped in the 200 block of Avenue K South. A 29 year old woman and a 38 year old man were taken into custody. Police seized cocaine, meth Dilaudid pills, approximately $1,400 in cash and cell phones. (VMF)
