A 31-year-old Saskatoon man faces six firearms-related offence among a total of 12 charges following an arrest and search over the weekend.

On Friday night, around 11 o’clock, the Saskatoon Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Unit and the R-C-M-P attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black 2021 Ford Mustang in Osler. When the driver refused to stop and fled, the S-P-S Air Support Unit helped police on the ground to successfully use a spike belt. The suspect tried to flee on foot once his vehicle came to a stop in a field near Neuanlage. However, he was take into custody without incident. He was found to be in possession of almost 200 grams of cocaine, a stolen handgun and ammunition. On Saturday, further ammunition was seized at a residence in the 500 block of Hampton Circle as police executed a search warrant. Besides the half-dozen firearms-related offences, the suspect is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, dangerous driving, evade police, driving while prohibited, breach of release and two counts of possession of property/proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.
