A State of the City address was given by Mayor Charlie Clark Thursday, and he asked people to imagine what Saskatoon will look like 15 years from now.

Clark says looking ahead he can imagine a city with four defining areas, including a downtown area that is a thriving destination for living, working and entertainment. Secondly he believes Saskatoon needs to be one of the healthiest and safest communities to live in.  Clark wants to see Saskatoon become a global leader in research, technology and manufacturing and lastly Clark wants the City’s rich diversity to be reflected throughout the leadership of the city.

Clark says committing to these four areas is what is needed to build a city that will thrive for residents, their children and their children’s children.  Clark referenced the past 15 years and all that he says has been achieved, as the reason why all four of those focuses are possible. He wants to make sure the city is making the right decisions in the right areas, to lay the groundwork for a strong future.

Clark says the things Saskatoon is offering to the world are only growing.  “Our high school and university graduates today are seeing a future here and staying. People are drawn to our quality of life, to our beautiful city, wrapped around the beloved Meewasin Valley. Which is not only a model of conservation and sustainability but also an oasis for mental health.”
