Twenty driver’s license suspensions were handed out last weekend, 12 of which were drug-related, from an impaired driving initiative of the RCMP and Saskatchewan Highway Patrol. Officers from the Southey and Lumsden RCMP Detachments, RCMP Traffic Services and the Highway Patrol were on Highway 20 just north of Craven last Friday night and on Highway 54 near Regina Beach the next night.

Along with the 20 suspensions, one person was arrested for impaired driving, 71 screening tests were administered and 23 vehicles were impounded. The RCMP encourages anyone who witnesses impaired or aggressive driving to report it to the police or call 911. SGI’s May Traffic Safety Spotlight is focusing on impaired driving.
