When the sale of the Saskatchewan Rush was announced last week, the word was that the Priestner Sports Corporation would provide general manager Derek Keenan with the necessary resources to keep a winning team on the indoor turf.
Thursday’s first move proves that to be the case as Keenan and the Rush announced the re-signing of Mark Matthews to a new, three-year deal. Matthews has been one of the National Lacrosse League’s premier performers since being the first overall pick in the 2012 Draft. He has spent all eight of his seasons with the Rush, is the franchises’ all-time leading scorer, was the N-L-L M-V-P with Saskatchewan in 2018 and has been a member of all three Rush Championship teams in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
