Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau will be in Saskatoon Thursday. He is appearing at a campaign rally at the Delta Bessborough scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The Liberal Leader is making headlines around the world. First it was a photo in brown face dressed up as Aladdin, then it was Justin Trudeau admitting to another incident in black face and now a video has surfaced.
He admitted he wore black face as Harry Belafonte singing the Banana Boat Song in a high school talent contest.
And this morning, Global News broadcast a brief video showing what appears to be Trudeau in blackface raising his hands in the air and sticking out his tongue.
The photo of him dressed as Aladdin, he was 29 at the time, was released by Time magazine. It was taken at the private school where he taught before entering politics. It was the school’s “Arabian Nights” themed dinner.
The Prime Minister held a hastily organized news conference yesterday telling reporters that he’s angry and disappointed in himself and says he should have known better. He also apologized and asked Canadians to forgive him acknowledging it was a racist act, though he didn’t realize it at the time, but Trudeau says he knows better now.
The rally this evening in Saskatoon is free, but the Facebook event page is asking for RSVPs. The three Saskatoon ridings all have Liberal candidates. Of the 14 Saskatchewan ridings, 11 have Liberal candidates. The three ridings without are Cypress Hills-Grasslands, Souris-Moose Mountain, and Yorkton-Melville.
