What started as a vehicle driving erratically turned into two people being arrested by Meadow Lake R-C-M-P and the arresting officers requiring medical assistance due to being exposed to a foreign substance.

At about 7 p.m. on June 4, two complaints of a silver car driving erratically on Highway 55 coming into Meadow Lake were received by Meadow Lake R-C-M-P. Upon learning the car was reported stolen in Prince Albert, an officer couldn’t get the car and its two occupants to stop. Eventually, the officer found the vehicle in the parking lot of a business on the 100 block of 9th Street West. At that point, while the officer tried to arrest the male driver, he was backing the stolen silver car into the police vehicle while the female passenger tried to prevent the driver from being arrested. Eventually, a second R-C-M-P officer and two civilians from inside the business were able to help with arresting the male driver. At that point, the female passenger exited the vehicle and tried to flee with what was believed to be a firearm. She was arrested a short time and distance later with the stock of a shotgun seized from a garbage nearby. It was right after the arrests that the officers began experiencing symptoms possibly associated to inhaling/being expose to a foreign substance and were examined by medical professionals. Twenty-two-year-old Kiefer Morin of Sandy Bay and 24-year-old Madison Tinker of Saskatoon were in Meadow Lake provincial court on June 7 to face multiple charges and will be back in Meadow Lake provincial court on June 14 by C-C-T-V.
