For the past two years, Warman High School has been exploring Truth and Reconciliation through the arts, and one of the final projects is a mural which can now be seen on the front of the Route 11 Creative Arts Centre.

Prairie Spirit School Division teacher, Sarah Gerrard, says the project was funded by Saskatchewan Arts and was supported by Knowledge Keeper Lyndon Linklater. Artist-in-residence, Ray Keighley, who is a Cree and Metis artist, worked with the students to create the mural, and other projects.

Gerrard says the students learned about colonization, residential schools, how trauma from the residential schools impacts the survivors and their descendants, and about climate change.
She notes that she learned just how integrated the arts are with Indigenous culture, so she figures it was a good way to explore the culture and history.
