With Saskatchewan communities announcing fairs and exhibitions and golf tournaments as well as the Saskatchewan Roughrider season going full steam ahead this summer, the province’s health minister is excited to see the us shift to a post-pandemic normal. Paul Merriman says Saskatchewan rode the ebb and flow of vaccine supply on the way to a safe Saskatchewan summer.
Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan Health Authority is advising residents that there has been a delay in the shipment of Pfizer vaccines expected to arrive the week of June 21. As a result, some immunization clinics scheduled this week will be offering the Moderna vaccine instead, starting today [Wednesday].
Residents with booked appointments who are affected by this delay will be contacted to inform them of the change in vaccine brand – appointment times and locations will remain the same.
Merriman recognizes about 300,000 people in Saskatchewan remain unvaccinated at this time, but he says roughly 3-to-4 thousand people continue getting their first shots every day, and Saskatchewan continues to be one of the top provinces for vaccine administration across Canada.
