You have a couple of days to get your thoughts in about what the interior of Saskatoon’s new central library should be, but there will be many more opportunities for public engagement over the next year. That’s according to Saskatoon Public Library CEO, Carol Cooley, who says the 18 month engagement process began in January.
This current round of public input is the second, to date. The first was about the inspirations and the bigger picture for the library. Cooley says this second round, which ends on Friday, is about the interiors. So far, the input indicates that people are in favour of having the theatre on the main floor, having an art gallery and that the children’s theatre will remain an important part of the building.
Cooley says when it is safe to do so, there will be in-person public sessions along with the online opportunities. It’s expected construction will begin at 321 2nd Avenue North in the spring of 2023, with the new central library opening in 2026.
