If not for $3.9 million of help from government funding programs, the Saskatchewan Roughriders would’ve lost over $11 million in the 2020-21 fiscal year!
As it was, the Riders took a significant bath in red ink, showing a loss of $7.5 million in the report tabled at Wednesday night’s Annual General Meeting. Thanks to having no 2020 C-F-L season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Roughriders total operating revenues went from $39.6 million in 2019-20 to $10.3 million in 2020-21. On the expense side of the ledger, the Riders went from $39.7 million the year before to $18.7 million dollars. With all that said, team president and C-E-O Craig Reynolds says he’s turning the page on 2020 and focusing on 2021. The C-F-L will kick-off a shortened 2021 season on August 5 with all nine teams starting training camp on July 10.
