Saskatchewan RCMP say a member of the Carlyle detachment has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon in the wake of their investigation into an incident dating back to October 31st, 2020. RCMP officers pulled over a vehicle in Arcola and one of the men in the vehicle was arrested by Constable Dani Zaya. While interacting with this man the RCMP say Constable Zaya used his pepper spray. A complaint was made a few weeks later, an investigation ensued, the matter was reviewed by the Crown and Constable Zaya was charged and arrested this past Wednesday. He is in court July 14th. Constable Zaya has been suspended with pay since the inception of the investigation and was on administrative duties until January 20th. Since that time he has been suspended with pay.
