They may be opponents during the season, but the trio of coaches making up Team W-H-L’s staff for the upcoming Canada-Russia Super Series have something in common.
Mitch Love (pictured), Marc Habscheid and Dave Struch all have ties to the Saskatoon Blades!
Love will be Team W-H-L’s head coach against the Russians on November 13 at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon and November 14 at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert. The present-day head coach of the Blades will, also, be an assistant coach with Team Canada for the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic.
Habscheid is head coach of the P-A Raiders. He played for Saskatoon in the early 80s.
Struch is head coach of the Regina Pats. He played for the Blades in the late 80s and early 90s and was also on Saskatoon’s coaching staff for several years, including head coach in 2013-14. Following is the news release from the W-H-L…
