The Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union has renewed its call for more resources and better strategies at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre.
The union feels Thursday’s violent altercation involving several gang members in the yard with only a few staff members present is proof their system isn’t working as additional officers had to be called in to break up the fight.
President Bob Bymoen says the facility has had several violent incidents in recent weeks and the inability to keep rival gang members apart is creating a very volatile situation.
