When it comes to what’s important to Canadians, reconciliation with Indigenous People is the least of their concerns. With another federal election expected this fall, Leger decided to poll Canadians on election-oriented questions. On issues, top of mind is economic recovery with 48 per cent of respondents pointing to that. Rebuilding the healthcare system was a distant second at 19 per cent. Then, addressing the situation for low-income Canadians with universal basic income, then climate change, then reconciliation at a mere eight per cent.

In terms of voter intentions. 33 per cent would vote Liberal, 30 per cent Conservative, and 19 per cent NDP. The rest are in single digits.

Twenty-two per cent think Justin Trudeau would make the best prime minister, 17 per cent Jagmeet Singh, 16 per cent Erin O’Toole, and 20 per cent weren’t sure.
