The City of Saskatoon has a new guide called, ”Foxtail Be Gone,” which contains prevention and control techniques for foxtail barley.
It’s a type of native perennial grass, designated as a nuisance weed and has proliferated within Saskatoon city limits in recent years. Varying concentrations have been found in parks and open spaces, as well as in partially developed and un-serviced land holdings.
The City wants to minimize the future occurrence of foxtail through awareness and educating developers and landowners, and sharing prevention and control techniques.
