The federal government’s Incident Response Group met on Tuesday to discuss the wildfires and extreme weather conditions in many parts of Canada. Minister of Public Safety and Emergency preparedness, Bill Blair, and Minister of Natural Resources, Seamus O’Regan, provided an outlook on wildfires and flooding across the country.

It was noted that British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon remain under significant threat from wildfires. Strategies were discussed to ensure requests for assistance can be dealt with quickly. The federal government says in a news release it will continue to monitor the situation and provide the necessary resources as needed.
