Environment Canada has issued a heat warning that blankets most of the province.
Temperatures in the low to mid 30s with overnight lows in the mid to high teens are expected for the next two days, then a cold front is forecast on Friday, easing the heat beginning in the north and heading south.
However, Environment Canada is forecasting what it is calling a “potent” heat wave over the Prairies next week, meaning extreme heat for much of southern and central Saskatchewan.
When it comes to the smoke from the northern forest fires, the south wind has meant most of the haze out of central parts of the province, but it means more smoke in the north.
There will be another wind direction change tonight as the cold front pushes in, improving the air quality in the far north, but once again the central regions may see a return of the smoky conditions.
