Statistics Canada says Sales of wholesale goods rose 0.5% in May to $72.2 billion. That was the third consecutive monthly increase. More than 95% of the gain came from the food, beverage and tobacco subsector.
In Saskatchewan, sales fell 4.4 per cent. Six provinces registered declines. Two had bigger drops than ours.
Compared to a year ago, sales in Canada in May were up 38.2 per cent. In Saskatchewan, they were up nearly 14 per cent. That was the smallest gain of the provinces. Total wholesale sales in Saskatchewan in May rang in at $2.426 billion.
