A Wildfire emergency advisory alert has been issued by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency due to a wildfire that is impacting travel along highway 106. At 11:00 AM the highway will be closed to travel from the junction of the 120 near Narrow Hills Provincial Park to kilometer 25, north of Smeaton. This will remain in place until the threat from the wildland fire has diminished.

Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is recommending against non-essential travel to any areas in the provincial forest. Check the Highway hotline for open routes if travel is essential. Check the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency web site for wildland fire information.

There is a telephone outage currently impacting SaskTel Internet, Wireless, and Landline service in Collins Bay, Southend, Stony Rapids, Wollaston Lake, Grandmother’s Bay, Missinipe, Brabant Lake, McLean Lake, Cigar Lake and surrounding communities served by these exchanges. With the wildfires burning, SaskTel crews will begin working to restore service as soon as it is safe to do so. At this time, there is no estimated time of repair.
