COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations continue trending downward.
Canada’s Deputy Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Howard Njoo says total active cases are now below 4, 700 for the first time since last august. Severity trends continue to decline as well.
Njoo says 80% of Canadians 12 and over have had at least one dose of vaccine, and 57% are fully vaccinated. Over 45 million doses have been given in Canada.
Even with those numbers, efforts to get more supplies into Canada continue.
Brigadier-General Krista Brodie is in charge of the government’s distribution plan, and says 7.1 million doses will arrive this week. By next week, it is expected there will be enough doses in the country to vaccinate every eligible Canadian.
