The International Minerals Innovation Institute is looking for new ideas to help move the mining industry forward.
That’s what the fourth annual DEMOday and Innovation Award is all about. Executive Director of the Saskatoon-based institute, Al Shypth, says some of the past applicants for the award include a new type of battery electric truck and a dust collection system for the potash industry.
He explains that it can be a product, a process, a digital transformation, something environmental or related to health and safety or productivity. They are open to new innovation as long as it is deployable in a mine or mill. Applications are open until August 27th.
DEMOday is when the ideas will be pitched, similar to what you would see on Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank and then the Innovation Award is handed out during the Saskatchewan Mining Supply Chain Forum coming up in December.
