Regina City Council has voted against banning body rub parlours in the city. In a special meeting last night (MON) city council voted to stick with the recommendations of Regina Police and city administration. The 6-5 vote will now see licensing and regulations put in place for the approximately 20 body rub parlours in the city to ensure the safety of those involved. City Councillor Lori Bresiciani put forward the motion to ban the body rub parlours, and says she was disappointed to see no representatives from the facilities in attendance. She says, if you want to operate in the city and you say you are legit, then come to council and talk about your business. She says, not showing up shows disrespect for the community. There were 12 presentations to council calling for an outright ban.
The regulations for the body rub parlours will be put in place by March of 2020.
