At 6:13 Wednesday morning, the Saskatoon Fire Department got a call from an occupant reporting their house on the 100 block of Poplar Crescent was filling up with smoke and the smoke alarm was sounding. The occupant got out and fire crews were dispatched. They encountered light smoke when they went inside the house in the Nutana neighbourhood.
The fire was under a stairwell and had spread into the ceiling space between the first and second floor. Crews are still out there dealing with the fire (830am). A relief crew was sent in to help out.
