Saskatoon-based fertilizer company Nutrien has announced its second quarter results with net earnings of $1.1 billion. Mayo Schmidt, Nutrien’s President and CEO says, “We delivered record earnings across our global business for the second quarter and first half of 2021 and expect the remainder of the year to contribute to a full year record.”
Schmidt says the outlook for global crop and fertilizer markets continues to be very strong and the company is positioned to benefit from its structural advantages and as a global leader in agriculture.
Sales through Nutrien’s digitally-enabled retail platform were approximately $1.6 billion in the first half of 2021, nearly double the sales compared to the same period in 2020 and exceeding the full year 2020 results of $1.2 billion in just six months.
