Investment in building construction decreased 4.5% to $18.4 billion in June in Canada. Both residential and non-residential construction investment were down following a period of sustained growth from November 2020 to April 2021.
Manitoba was the only province with growth in investment on the residential side. Here in Saskatchewan, investment was down 16.4 per cent. We and New Brunswick tied for the biggest drop of the provinces. Total value in Saskatchewan in June was about $216 million.
On the non-residential side, Saskatchewan was one of four provinces with increased investment. Here, it was up 0.7 per cent. The total in Saskatchewan was $75.5 million.
