Police have not yet been able to locate two suspects connected to a vehicle theft involving a firearm on Wednesday morning in the R.M. of Buckland, north of Prince Albert. RCMP alerted the public that there would be an increased presence north and west of Prince Albert including Sturgeon Lake First Nation, Little Red River First Nation, the R.M. of Buckland and the RM of Shellbrook, and that continues. Anyone in this area is urged to contact police if they notice any suspicious activity.

Police say shortly after the theft, the suspect vehicle, a white truck, was found but officers were unable to stop it. Investigators believe the suspects may be armed.

Police say the armed theft investigation may be related to a robbery with a firearm which occurred on Saturday on the Little Red River First Nation, which resulted in charges against 25 year old Glen Frederick Halkett, also known as Baby Glen, of Sturgeon Lake First Nation. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He may be in the communities of Little Red River First Nation, Sturgeon Lake First Nation, Prince Albert, Shellbrook or Ahtahkakoop First Nation, but that is not confirmed.

Police say Halkett should not be approached if you see him. Call 911 instead.
