Active cases of COVID-19 have nearly quadrupled over the past three-and-a-half weeks in Saskatchewan.
Friday’s dashboard summary from the provincial website shows an increase of 100 active cases from Thursday to 893 after 125 new cases were registered as opposed to only 22 recoveries. Back on July 20, there were 242 active cases of the novel coronavirus. Another four hospitalizations were added in Saskatchewan, now at 73 with nine of the infections in an I-C-U. The seven-day average for new cases is at 98, but there were no new COVID-19-related deaths. Otherwise, another 1,792 provincial residents became fully vaccinated on Thursday out of a total of 2,539 shots administered.

- As of August 13th, there are 125 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 51,034 reported cases
- The new cases are located in the Far North West (12), Far North Central (2), Far North East (15), North West (4), North Central (21), North East (4), Saskatoon (18), Central West (1), Central East (4), Regina (7), South West (4), South Central (15) and South East (14) zones, and four (4) new cases are pending residence information
- One (1) case with pending residence information was assigned to the North West (from August 11(1)) zone
- Three (3) cases were deemed to be non-SK residents and removed from the South Central (from July 7(1)), pending location (from April 18(1)) and pending location (from July 10(1)) counts
- 51,034 cases are confirmed
- 12,287 cases are from the Regina area
- 12.000 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 11,166 cases are from the North area (4,834 North West, 4,687 North Central, 1,645 North East)
- 6,076 cases are from the South area (1,196 South West, 1,970 South Central, 2,910 South East)
- 6,019 cases are from the Far North area (3,017 Far North West, 440 Far North Central, 2,562 Far North East)
- 3,329 cases are from the Central area (859 Central West, 2,470 Central East)
- 157 cases have pending residence information
- 893 cases are considered active and 49,555 cases are considered recovered
- Just over one-third (35.2%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category
- As of August 13th, a total of 73 individuals are hospitalized, including 64 inpatient hospitalizations and 9 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 73 patients, 54 (74%) are not fully vaccinated
- No (0) new death reported today. 586 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%
- 982,596 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of August 11, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 827,606 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,031,415 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 98 (8.1 per 100,000).
