Another COVID-19 outbreak is happening at Parkside Extendicare in Regina.
A letter has been sent to residents’ families informing them of the situation.
Two positive tests have been acknowledged so far, one from a resident and the other a staff member.
As a result, the care home will be bringing back restrictions to try and curb the situation as quickly as possible.
With the restrictions being reinstated, in-person visits will only be allowed during end-of-life situations, and will be limited to one person at a time. All other visits will be back to virtual.
An increase in PPE is also happening, all staff will once again be required to wear N95 masks; air purifiers are also now present inside the building.
COVID-19 tests will be administered to staff before every shift.
Last fall 42 residents died, and all but four tested positive for COVID-19 in one of the worst outbreaks in the country.
